After Friday prayers, 18 BNP leaders and activists from Abdalpur Union of Islamic University (EB) Police Station in Kushtia district joined Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.
Local sources said that despite being in politics with BNP for a long time, many leaders and activists became disappointed with the party for various reasons. Finally, today they officially announced their joining Jamaat-e-Islami.
Local leaders of Jamaat were present at the joining ceremony. They welcomed the new leaders and activists and urged everyone to work together to strengthen the party.
The BNP leaders and activists who switched sides said that Jamaat's position and program seemed timely to them in the current political situation of the country. That is why they left BNP and joined Jamaat.
This incident is being seen as important in local politics. Political analysts believe that Jamaat's organizational activities will be further strengthened, especially in Abdalpur Union and surrounding areas.
