The National Citizens Party (NCP) is going to organize a public rally at the central Shaheed Minar in the capital at 4 pm today, Sunday (August 4) demanding the 'July Declaration and Charter'. The party's top leaders have said that the "Manifesto of New Bangladesh" will be announced from the rally.
NCP Chief Coordinator (Southern Region) Hasnat Abdullah, Chief Organizer (Northern Region) Sarjis Alam and Convener Nahid Islam made the announcement in a video message published on the NCP's official Facebook page at 11:30 pm on Saturday.
In the video message, Hasnat Abdullah said, "Although it is possible to overthrow fascism through the one-point declaration of August 3, 2024, the struggle to build a new state is not over yet. This struggle must continue."
Sarjis Alam said, “Through the July march, we have collected the hopes, aspirations and opinions of the common people through visiting 64 districts of the country. Based on that experience and proposal, a democratic manifesto has been prepared for building a new state, which includes justice, reforms and an outline of a new constitution.”
Convener Nahid Islam said, “July was the beginning of possibilities. We want to build a Bangladesh without discrimination, democratic and with citizen dignity. This manifesto will highlight ways to solve all basic problems including education, health, employment.”
He called on everyone to participate in today’s public gathering and said, “Just as we were a symbol of the people’s trust in the mass uprising, we will also continue the fight for the reconstruction of Bangladesh on behalf of the people.”
NCP leaders said that this manifesto is not just a political declaration, but rather it is the expectations, dreams and outline of the future state of the new generation.
