BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has commented that no reform will be fruitful if people’s security is not ensured. He said, “Many have taken advantage of the political change to occupy good positions, some have become ministers, some have taken control of businesses. But no one even looks back at those who gave their lives.”
He made these remarks at a discussion meeting jointly organized by ‘Amra BNP Paribas’ and ‘Mayer Dak’ organizations at Kamal Ataturk Ground in Banani on Tuesday morning. The BNP Secretary General inaugurated a program titled ‘Children in the Democratic March’ on the occasion of the July-long mass uprising.
He said, “We may not be able to return the missing people, but we have to take responsibility for their children. This is our moral responsibility.”
Mirza Fakhrul also said, "The work of the Commission on Disappearances has not yet shown the expected progress. If BNP is elected in the next election, initiatives will be taken to rehabilitate the family members of the disappeared."
In this statement by the BNP Secretary General, the issues of state security, justice, and responsibility towards the families of the disappeared are given special importance.
