BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has claimed that the Digital Security Act or the Cyber Security Act does not ensure the safety of journalists. He said, when people do not have the right to speak in the country, journalists have to work in fear. That is the current situation in the country.
On Sunday (May 26), Rizvi said these things during the cake-cutting and greeting exchange on behalf of BNP at the three-decade anniversary function organized at the office of Dhaka Reporters Unity at Segunbagicha in the capital.
He said, this law is not good for journalists. This law does not ensure the safety of journalists. There is no easy escape from this law.
Alleging that people who are free thinkers are being arrested while expressing their views, Rizvi said such a law exists in the country. In such a situation, the path of the newspaper is difficult.
Referring to DRU as an exemplary example in the current political division in the country, a senior leader of BNP said that even in difficult situations, people of different parties and opinions are working unitedly here.
Earlier, the members of Dhaka Reporters Unity organized a colorful procession on the occasion of the three-decade anniversary. Then around 12 noon, a procession was taken out from the head office of the organization at Segunbagicha.
