A South Korean female tourist has embraced Islam while visiting the historic Turkish city of Mardin. This information was reported by the Turkish news agency, Anadolu Agency, on Tuesday (September 15).
The Artuklu District Mufti's Office stated that the South Korean tourist, named Chevon, decided to convert to Islam during her visit to Mardin. She subsequently visited the Artuklu District Mufti's Office to formally complete the conversion process.
At a ceremony held under the supervision of Mufti Suleyman Baran, Chevon recited the *Shahada*—the declaration of faith in Islam—thereby officially embracing the religion. Following her conversion, she chose "Abdullah" as her new name.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Mufti Suleyman Baran presented a copy of the Holy Quran to the new Muslim, Abdullah, as a gift. The Mufti's office also extended its best wishes for her new life.
Mardin is one of Turkey's most attractive tourist destinations, renowned for its historic architecture, culture, and long history spanning various civilizations. The city is popular among both domestic and international tourists due to its centuries-old structures and cultural diversity. It was during a visit to this city that Chevon's conversion to Islam took place.
