Biman emergency landing in Dhaka, 71 passengers safe

Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-436 made a safe emergency landing after a left landing gear wheel came off after taking off from Cox's Bazar. The flight landed successfully at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 2:22 pm today (Friday). All 71 passengers on board, including one child, are healthy and safe.
The flight was operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines pilot Captain Billah. Biman Bangladesh Airlines General Manager (Public Relations) ABM Rowshan Kabir confirmed the matter.
He said that immediately after taking off, the pilot informed the Dhaka air traffic control about the emergency landing. An emergency alert was immediately issued at Shahjalal International Airport and other security forces including the fire service were kept ready.
ABM Rawshan Kabir also said that immediately after taking off from Cox's Bazar Airport, one of the rear wheels came off and fell down. Upon learning of the matter, the flight was declared an emergency and the engineering team was kept ready next to the runway.
The aviation authority said that after identifying the problem with the wheel, the control tower was quickly informed and necessary measures were taken immediately. The BG-436 flight, which left Cox's Bazar at 1:35 pm, landed safely at 2:22 pm, some time after the scheduled time.
Aviation experts said that even if one wheel is lost, the Dash 8-400 model aircraft like the plane is capable of emergency landing.
The Shahjalal International Airport authority said that other airport operations are normal after the flight landed. None of the passengers needed to be taken to the hospital.
