A demand to ban Awami League has once again emerged in the political arena. Debates and discussions have been going on for almost six months in favor of this demand. The leaders of the National Citizens Committee and the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement have reiterated this demand. They say that if the registration of Awami League is not canceled before the elections, a deep crisis may arise in front of the country, which may eventually turn into a civil war.

National Citizens Committee convener Nasiruddin Patwari said, "If the registration of Awami League is not canceled before the elections, a dark future awaits the people. If this is not done, Bangladesh will be pushed towards a civil war." He also said that steps should be taken against Awami League through a democratic process quickly.

Immediately after such statements, Abdul Hannan Masud, the main organizer of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, also demanded to ban Awami League and said, "We want to legally ban Awami League."

Last February, the houses of Awami League leaders were vandalized and set on fire, which has further strengthened the demand to ban the party. Following this incident, demands for banning the party have been raised in various parts of the country through protests and rallies.

Meanwhile, the government has said that it will take steps to ban the Awami League soon. However, some legal scholars and political analysts have expressed caution about this demand, saying that it could deepen political divisions.

Separately, protests and coffin processions were held after the funeral of the young man Abul Kashem, who was killed at the Dhaka Shaheed Minar on February 12, demanding a ban on the Awami League, which has added another moment to the discussion of banning the Awami League.

In such a context, the implementation of this demand to ban the Awami League has now become an important debate in the country's politics.
