Ashish, a student, died while undergoing treatment

Ashiqur Rahman Ashiq (24), a student injured in a clash with Awami League activists in Kurigram during the anti-discrimination student movement, died while undergoing treatment in Dhaka. He died at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on Sunday (September 01) afternoon. Atiqur Rahman, the younger brother of the deceased, confirmed the matter.

The deceased Ashiq is the son of farmer Chand Mia of Satvita village of Buraburi union of Ulipur upazila. The second-year graduate student of Panchpir Degree College, Ulipur got married seven months ago.

On August 4, Ashiq was injured by a stone on his head in a clash between Awami League-Youth League-Chhatra League and students in Shapla square of Kurigram city. If the condition worsened, he was taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. On August 18, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib was taken to the medical center and died on Sunday (September 1) while undergoing treatment.
Ashiq's younger brother Atiq said, 'We are not affiliated with any political party. As an ordinary student, I and Bhaiya joined the movement on August 4, demanding conscience. I was also injured by the stones and beatings of Awami League people. Bhaiyya returned home with a head injury. But the injury caused him to vomit. Fever comes. Later he was taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University via Rangpur. But in the end could not be saved. The doctors said, due to the injury, there was bleeding in his head.
Atiq also said that the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement went to the hospital on the news of Ashiq's death. After his janaza at the central Shaheed Minar, the body will be brought to the village home. Burial will be done there on Monday.

Three people from Kurigram were killed earlier in the anti-discrimination student movement. All of them were shot and died in Dhaka. Later their bodies were brought to their respective village homes in Kurigram and buried.
