90,000 yaba pills, Tk 3.5 million recovered in a bed box

The Narcotics Control Department (DNC) has recovered 90,000 pieces of yaba pills and Tk 3.52 million 800 from a wooden bed box in a raid at a rented house in Cox's Bazar Sadar Upazila. A couple has been arrested in this incident. A 16-year-old teenager has been taken into custody from the same house.

The raid was conducted on Monday (September 7) morning at an under-construction building in the North Hajipara area adjacent to the power house in Jhilanja Union, Cox's Bazar.

The yaba pills were specially hidden in the bed box

According to Somen Mandal, Deputy Director of the DNC Cox's Bazar District Office, the raid was conducted on the basis of specific confidential information. At one stage of the search, the yaba pills were found specially hidden inside the wooden bed box in Ashiq Momen's bedroom.

In addition to 90,000 Yaba pills, 3.52 million taka of cash for drug sales and three mobile phones used in drug dealing were seized in the operation.

Couple arrested

The arrested persons are Ashiq Momen (23) and his wife Sadia Farhana (23), residents of Paschim Pankhali area of ​​Teknaf. They were living as tenants in a house in the building. The 16-year-old teenager who was with them also lives in Teknaf.

The DNC said that further investigation is underway regarding the recovered drugs and cash.

Case under the Narcotics Control Act

A case under the Narcotics Control Act was filed against the arrested couple at Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police Station on Monday afternoon in this incident.

The Narcotics Control Department said that the operation is continuing to identify and arrest other accomplices involved in the drug trade.
