1.4 billion people of India are concerned about the overall situation in Bangladesh, especially the security of Hindus and other non-Muslim citizens. Prime Minister Narendra Modi made this comment in a speech.

Today 15 August is India's Independence Day. On this day in 1947, India became independent from British colonial rule. Narendra Modi delivered his Independence Day speech at the historic Red Fort Maidan in New Delhi this morning. In that speech he said, “1.4 billion Indians today are concerned about the safety of Hindus and other minority non-Muslim citizens of Bangladesh. India is always well wisher for the development of Bangladesh. We hope normal situation will return to Bangladesh soon. India wants to ensure the safety of all Hindus and other minority non-Muslim citizens of Bangladesh."

In fact, this is the first time since August 5 that the Prime Minister of India has publicly opened up about the situation in Bangladesh.

The Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina was forced to resign and leave the country on August 5 in the face of a continuous month-long movement by the students. He is currently staying in New Delhi, the capital of India.
An interim government has already been formed after Sheikh Hasina's departure; Bangladesh's Nobel-winning economist Dr. Muhammad Yunus is the chief advisor of that government.

A few days ago, Bangladeshi Hindus protested against attacks on Hindus across the country and demanded security in Shahbagh, the capital of Bangladesh.
