The ceasefire has finally taken effect in Gaza, Palestine. The ceasefire went into effect at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. Qatar-based media outlet Al Jazeera reported this in a report.
Initially, the ceasefire was supposed to take effect at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, but Israeli warlord Prime Minister Netanyahu delayed it using a new pretext. The list of 33 hostages that Hamas will release in the first round has not yet been given to Tel Aviv, which has delayed the ceasefire.
Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari will give a statement to reporters on Sunday, where he will explain the reasons for the ceasefire delay and the next situation. He told the media, "We will bring you any important updates. Stay tuned."
Prime Minister Netanyahu's office said in a statement that three Israeli hostages will be released on Sunday, but Tel Aviv is still waiting for their names to be released. According to the ceasefire agreement, the prisoner exchange list should have been provided at least 24 hours in advance, which is scheduled to take place after 4 p.m. today.
The location of the prisoner exchange remained unclear until Saturday night. The Israeli military has set up three separate possible locations near the southern, central and northern Gaza borders.
A sense of relief has returned to the Middle East as the Israeli cabinet approved a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal after eight hours of talks to end the 15-month war. According to the agreement, the ceasefire will take effect on Sunday morning and the prisoner exchange will begin at 4 p.m. In the first phase, Hamas will release four Israeli hostages on Sunday afternoon. After that, the remaining 30 hostages will be released three at a time each week.
Meanwhile, in the first phase, 1,904 Palestinians will be released within 24 days. This includes 737 prisoners and 1,167 Palestinians who were held in mass detention.
Israel and Hamas, the ruling group in the Gaza Strip, reached a ceasefire deal brokered by Egypt, Qatar and the United States on Wednesday, but Israeli attacks on Gaza have continued despite the deal. On Saturday, the Gaza Civil Defense and Rescue Service said at least five members of a family were killed in an Israeli attack in Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
