Han Kang, a famous South Korean writer, won the Nobel Prize in Literature this year. The Swedish Academy officially announced his name around 5pm on Thursday. Han Kang earned this honor for his unique literary contribution.

Norwegian playwright Jon Fosse won the Nobel Prize in Literature last year. The Swedish Academy of Literature and Drama praised Yon Foss, saying that he brilliantly conveys the unspoken and the unspoken in his writings.

The Nobel Prize in Literature was first awarded in 1901. The first Nobel was won by French poet and essayist Sully Prudhomme. So far 120 writers have been honored with this prestigious award.
