The court has cancelled the previous order to exhume the remains of filmmaker Salman Shah. On Tuesday (June 23), the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Jewel Rana passed the order in response to the plaintiff's application.

The plaintiff in the case, Mohammad Alamgir Kumkum, applied to the court to cancel the order to exhume the remains. After the hearing, the court granted the application. The plaintiff's lawyer Abid Hasan confirmed the matter.

The application states that Salman Shah was buried in the premises of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) Shrine in Sylhet. Exhuming the remains after a long time may hurt religious sentiments and create an undesirable situation.

The plaintiff also said that it is unlikely that any new important evidence will be found by exhuming the remains after almost 30 years. In addition, Salman Shah's mother Neela Chowdhury and the plaintiff have objections to this matter.

Earlier, on May 20, the investigation officer of the case, CID Police Inspector Md. Ziaul Morshed, sought permission from the court to exhume the remains, prepare a post-mortem report and conduct an autopsy. Based on that application, the court allowed the exhumation of the remains from the grave on May 24.

On September 6, 1996, the body of film actor Salman Shah was recovered from his house in Eskaton, Dhaka. There has been discussion and controversy over his death for a long time.

On October 20 last year, Salman Shah's brother Mohammad Alamgir filed a case at the Kumkum Ramna Police Station on behalf of his mother Neela Chowdhury. Several people were named as accused in the case. The court ordered the submission of the investigation report in the case.

Salman Shah was one of the most popular heroes of Bengali cinema in the nineties. In a short career, he made a permanent place in the hearts of the audience. His death is still one of the most discussed events in the country's film industry.
