Debor Mizanur Rahman Liton killed Hosne Ara (27) of Putimari Mandalpara area of Thanahat Union of Chilmari Upazila of Kurigram in a planned manner and destroyed the signs of murder. 8 years after the murder case was filed, Kurigram Additional Sessions Judge Md. Abdus Salam on Wednesday afternoon sentenced the accused Mizanur Rahman Liton (26) to life imprisonment and a fine of one lakh taka for one year. Two years of rigorous imprisonment and one month of rigorous imprisonment in default of payment of a fine of 10,000 taka. The verdict was announced in the absence of the accused as the accused was absconding.
According to the statement of the case, Additional Public Prosecutor Nazmul Hossain said that on the morning of 02/05/2016, the village police informed the police of Dulu Mia Chilmari police station after finding the body of an unidentified woman in the fallow land of one Vijay Babu in the fallow land of one Vijay Babu in the brammaputra river of Ramna Model Union of Chilmari upazila. The police recovered the body and filed a murder case, showing the accused unidentified. Case No. GR- 38/16 (Chilmari). Later, the police conducted an extensive search and identified Mizanur Rahman Liton, the mastermind behind the murder. He is the son of Yakub Ali Mandal of Putimari Hatithana Mandalpara area of Chilmari. Conflicts arose with his elder brother Ratan Mandal's wife Hosne Ara over patronage and money transactions. Because of this, on the day of the incident, Hosne Ara was taken to Bangmara pasture in a boat in Keishle and strangled to death by strangulation by strangulation and twisting the veil. At that time, he destroyed the evidence of murder and left the body and ran away. Later police investigation identified the accused and the murder mystery was revealed.
After a long investigation, the police filed a charge sheet against accused Md. Mizanur Rahman Liton for killing his wife Hosne Ara and destroying evidence of the murder. The charge sheet is actually transferred to the judge's court for trial. Here the case was converted into Sessional Case No. 47/18 and trial commenced.
The learned District and Sessions Judge took cognizance of the complaint against the accused and sent the case to the Court of Additional Sessions Judge. The Additional Sessions Judge's court fixed the judgment on Wednesday after hearing the arguments and recording the statements and cross-examination of 18 witnesses present by the state side. Additional Sessions Judge Md. Abdus Salam in the open court pronounced the verdict against the accused for life imprisonment and 1,00,000/-(one lakh) rupees respectively for murder and 01 year rigorous imprisonment and 02 years rigorous imprisonment and 10,000 for destroying evidence in murder. /-(Ten thousand) sentenced to 01 month rigorous imprisonment for non-payment of fine. The verdict was announced in the absence of the accused.
The learned Additional Public Prosecutor Md. Nazmul Islam handled the case for the state and State Defense Advocate Mr. ATM Ershadul Haque Chowdhury for the accused.
