A case has been filed naming 100 people including the then OC of Mirzapur police station and Awami League leader and 500 unknown accused in the case of Himel losing his eye during the anti-discrimination student movement in Tangail's Mirzapur.

Apart from this, there has been an allegation of harassing a journalist due to prior enmity with the plaintiff's lawyer in this case. On Monday Himel's mother Nachima Begum filed this case in Tangail's Senior Judicial Magistrate Mirzapur Administrative Court. The journalist is Sajjad Hossain, Mirzapur upazila correspondent of Dainik Jugantar newspaper.

It is known that Sajjad Hossain filed a case in Tangail Additional District Magistrate Court No-168/2018 regarding 25 percent of the land. Later, the court registered the case by finalizing the proceeding order on 17 April 2019. Again in the same year, the defendant Delwar Hossain appealed to the Gongra Judge Court. Later, the case was converted to Section 145 and directed to dispose of the case in the Court of Additional District Magistrate. Later, the court on May 28, 2024. Pronounced judgment in favor of Sajjad Hossain. After losing the case, Delwar Hossain Gong of Postkamuri village of Mirzapur upazila filed a review lawsuit against Namzari No. 650 on 22 February 2024 with 25 percent of the land for 203 (x111) 2023-2024.

The case is currently pending in the court of Assistant Commissioner (Lands), Mirzapur. The date of hearing of the case has been fixed on Wednesday, October 9. Upazila BNP Acting President Abdur Rauf of the same area is the plaintiff's lawyer in this case. In order to prevent Sajjad Hossain from appearing in the court in the hearing of this case, lawyer Abdur Rauf, without the knowledge of the plaintiff, involved the name of Sajjad Hossain, the representative of Mirzapur upazila of newspaper 'Dainik Jugantar', in the case, without the knowledge of the plaintiff. Taking cognizance of the case, the court directed the Officers-in-charge of Mirzapur police station to register it. Besides, the other accused in this case are Mirzapur Police Station OC Rezaul Karim, SI Ramkrishna, SI Karim, Upazila Awami League President Mir Sharif Mahmud, General Secretary Barrister Tahrim Hossain Shimant, Awami League Leader Kh. A. Hafiz, Gokai Union East Awami League President Ashraf Khan, General Secretary Salah Uddin Bhuiyan Thandu, former Co-Editor of Tangail District Awami Jubo League Mir Moin Hossain Rajeev, Bamboo Oil UP Chairman Helal Dewan and Mir Asif Anik among others. According to the statement of the case, on August 4, a peaceful movement of anti-discrimination students was going on in front of the Gogai Highway Police Station on the Dhaka-Tangail highway. Himel of Lalbari village also took part in that movement. During the movement, the police, Awami League and the activists of the organ organizations ambushed with firearms and domestic sharp weapons. Himel was seriously injured when police and Awami League leaders fired bullets. He was rescued and admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Doctors said Himel's two eyes have become permanently blind. He is currently undergoing treatment at Dhaka Combined Military Hospital. Meanwhile, Himel's mother Nachima Begum, the plaintiff in the case, said that her son is currently at home. He did not know who or how many defendants were named in the case. Lawyer Abdur Rauf can speak well about the case.

Yugantar journalist Md. Sajjad Hossain said that the lawyer made a false case against me so that I could not appear in the court of Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mirzapur in the case of land. I demand his punishment. Abdur Rauf, the lawyer of the plaintiff side of the case, was contacted on the mobile phone, but he did not pick up the phone.
