The body was recovered two days after the disappearance

The police recovered the body of a man named Safiqul Islam alias Thandu (52) from Karatoa river in Boda upazila of Panchagarh. His body was recovered from the Auliaghat area of the Karatoa river in Madea Bamanhat Union of the upazila on Friday (October 4) morning.
Meanwhile, after the recovery of the body, a person named Safiqul Islam was arrested and taken into police custody on suspicion of being involved in the murder.
The house of the deceased is in Nautri Samerdanga village of Barashashi union of Boda upazila. He is the son of deceased Esahaq Ali of that village.
According to the police, the deceased Safiqul Islam was working as a middleman in the sale of land. A land dispute was going on with a family next to his house for the past few days. He was missing since last Wednesday. Her family later verbally reported her missing to the Boda police station on Thursday (October 3). Later on Friday morning, his body was recovered from the Karatoa river with a cloth wrapped around his neck. He is believed to have been strangled to death. Legal process is ongoing in this incident.
After the preliminary examination, the body was sent to Panchgarh Modern Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
Boda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mozammel Haque said, "A man named Safiqul of the same village has been arrested on suspicion of being involved in the incident." Further investigation is going on in the matter including questioning him. At the same time, legal proceedings are ongoing.
