Due to its proximity to the Himalayas, Tentulia, the northernmost city of the country, Panchagarh, has long felt the cold weather. That familiar scene reappeared.

At 9 am on Saturday (December 6), the district temperature in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh was recorded at 10.5 degrees Celsius. Locals believe that this seasonal temperature is a warning sign of a cold wave.

Most of the areas were covered in light fog in the morning. However, the fog cleared and sunlight appeared in the morning. At that time, the humidity of the air was 94 percent, which made the feeling of cold more intense. However, the maximum temperature during the day is 27 to 28 degrees.

Daily laborers, the elderly and children are suffering the most in winter. They feel the intensity of the cold more while doing daily work in the morning and at night. The health department also said that the number of patients suffering from cold-related diseases is increasing in the upazila and hospitals.

The Meteorological Office says that the temperature in the northern regions, including Panchagarh, may drop in the next few days due to the influence of cold winds coming down from the Himalayas. The density of fog may increase at night and in the early hours of the morning and the feeling of cold may also increase.

In this regard, Jitendranath Roy, officer-in-charge of the Tentulia Meteorological Observatory, said on Saturday, December 6, that the temperature in Tentulia was recorded at 6 am at 10.5 degrees.
