Air pollution levels are increasing day by day, and its effects are also being observed in Dhaka. Dhaka's air was very polluted for several consecutive days at the beginning of this month. However, this morning, Dhaka's air is in a 'very unhealthy' condition.
On Friday, according to data from Switzerland-based air monitoring website IQAir, Dhaka's air quality was 'very unhealthy', and at 8 am this morning, Dhaka's air index was 204, indicating a very hazardous environment.
If the IQAir score is between 201 and 300, the air is classified as 'very unhealthy'. As a result, children, the elderly and the sick are advised to stay indoors. In such a situation, air pollution can directly cause serious diseases such as respiratory infections, heart disease, stroke and lung cancer.
According to the World Health Organization, air pollution kills more than seven million people worldwide every year. Air pollution is posing an increasingly serious health risk, and the situation in Dhaka is becoming more alarming.
This is an important warning, where overall health protection and awareness need to be increased.
