Apart from the usual work, there were many prominent faces of the country's politics around the Sher-e Bangla Stadium in Mirpur. Member of Parliament for Kishoreganj-6 Nazmul Hasan Papon was the president of the cricket board for many years.

Not only Nazmul Hasan, many other politicians were around the cricket board. Former BCB president AHM Mustafa Kamal (Comilla-10), former BCB president Saber Hossain Chowdhury (Dhaka-9), former BCB director Golam Dastgir Gazi (Narayanganj-1) were members of parliament. Among the directors, AJM Nasir Uddin was the former mayor of Chittagong City Corporation and the central leader of Chittagong Awami League.

Apart from this, Shafiur Rahman Nadel was in Sylhet and Naimur Rahman Durjoy was the MP from Manikganj. Among the cricketers of the national team, Shakib Al Hasan also became a member of Parliament. Another former cricketer, Mashrafe Bin Mortuza, is a Member of Parliament elected for two consecutive terms from Narail-2 constituency.
