Pakistan is playing a tri-nation series as a preparation for the Champions Trophy. However, the team lost to New Zealand by a big margin of 78 runs in the first match of the series. After such a defeat, captain Mohammad Rizwan spoke openly about the team's weakness.
Although the wicket was difficult for batting, Glenn Phillips played a great innings. Praising him, Rizwan said, "We lost, so it's difficult to say how the wicket was. But Phillips' batting was extraordinary."
When asked about the team's areas for improvement, the Pakistan captain said, "Fielding is our big weakness. We need to work more on this area before the Champions Trophy."
Meanwhile, the injury of star pacer Haris Rauf has further worried the team. Rizwan said, "I'm not sure yet, but I'm hopeful that it's nothing serious."
Referring to the batting unit, he added, "We have to bat after analysing the situation. If we lose wickets, we have to focus on building good partnerships."
New Zealand will face South Africa in the second match of the tri-series at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Monday.
