Bangladesh wins Test against Caribbean after 15 years

Despite failing in the first Test in Antigua, Bangladesh defeated the Caribbean by 101 runs in Kingston, Jamaica, thanks to Taijul Islam's spin. Bangladesh also ended the Test Championship cycle with a win. Bangladesh ended the series with a 1-1 draw with this win.

With the 101-run win in Kingston, Bangladesh's Tigers won white-shirt cricket in the West Indies after 15 years. Then in 2009, Bangladesh won a Test from the Caribbean island. Shakib Al Hasan started his captaincy with that series.

To win the Test against Bangladesh today, West Indies had to make history. There is no record of winning by chasing more than 212 runs on this ground. This time, the Caribbeans were targeting 287 runs. However, the experienced Taijul's spin once again showed Bangladesh the way. The hosts were all out for 185 runs in the second innings. Taijul took five wickets.

Earlier, Bangladesh were all out for 164 runs in the first innings. In reply, Nahid Rana took 5 wickets and West Indies were bowled out for 146 runs. This was the lowest score against Bangladesh outside the country. Batting in the second innings with a lead of 18 runs, the Tigers were all out in the first session of the fourth day. Zaker Ali fought for the team on the fourth day. However, he missed a century by 9 runs. Zaker scored 91 runs with 5 sixes and 8 fours. Bangladesh were all out for 268 runs with his bat. The target for West Indies to win was 287 runs.

Batting against a target of 287 runs, Taijul and Taskin Ahmed gave Bangladesh a dream of victory by taking a pair of wickets in 57 runs. Mikail Lewis was out for 6 and Cassie Carty was out for 14 runs. However, West Indies turned around with the bat of Kevham Hodge and Craig Braffett. Taijul brought Bangladesh back into the match by getting these two batters back in the dressing room. Braffett was out for 43 and Hajj for 55. After their departure, no one else could settle down. The Caribbeans lost wickets at regular intervals and were all out for 185 runs in 50 overs. Taijul took 5 wickets. Apart from this, Taskin and Hasan Mahmud took 2 wickets each. Taijul was named the man of the match and Tiger pacer Taskin Ahmed was named the man of the series.
