Saifullah murder: Shibir president sends strong message to BNP, demands justice

The organization has held a protest march and rally in the capital to protest the murder of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir's union president Saifullah in Gaibandha. In addition to demanding a speedy trial for the murder, the central leaders of Chhatra Shibir have expressed their strong stance against political violence.
On Sunday (June 21) night, a protest march was taken out from the central Shaheed Minar at the initiative of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir Dhaka Metropolitan. The march circled various roads in the capital and ended with a short rally in Shahbagh area. The leaders and activists of the organization participated in it and raised various slogans demanding justice for Saifullah's murder.
Speaking as the chief guest at the rally, Chhatra Shibir's central president Nurul Islam said that the culture of political violence and revenge needs to stop in the country. He alleged that Saifullah was attacked and killed in Gaibandha, which is in no way acceptable.
He said that despite political differences, violence and killings cannot be part of a civilized political culture. He called for those involved in such incidents to be brought to justice quickly and given exemplary punishment.
Nurul Islam also said that in the past, various parties have faced public criticism due to political violence. Therefore, all political forces should respect democratic and peaceful political practices.
The rally demanded the immediate arrest and fair investigation of those involved in the Saifullah murder. At the same time, the speakers called on the administration to take impartial legal action.
The Shibir leaders said that if justice is not ensured, the anger among students and the youth will increase further. They also announced to continue the movement through peaceful programs.
The leaders present at the protest rally demanded that effective steps be taken to prevent the recurrence of political violence. They called for restraint and tolerance from all political parties in the country.
At the end of the rally, the leaders and activists concluded the program peacefully. All eyes are now on the law enforcement agencies' investigation and next steps in the Saifullah murder case.
