Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said that the current democratic government is determined to implement every point of the election manifesto and the July Charter signed before the people in stages. He also mentioned that there is no reason for anyone to doubt this.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the District Commissioners' Conference organized at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Sunday (May 3).
The Prime Minister said that the divisional commissioners and district administrators are the main bridge of the government with the public administration. The success of the government's activities largely depends on their honesty, efficiency and accountability. The common people, who have been expecting accountable and public welfare-oriented governance for a long time, want to see its reflection in every work of the government.
Stating that good governance is the foundation of running the state, he said that this requires efficient management, competent leadership and accountability. In addition, ensuring the fair rights of the people, keeping government services free from harassment and ensuring equal opportunities for all are also important responsibilities of the administration.
The Prime Minister directed to improve the law and order situation, control drugs, maintain communal harmony and take strict measures against child marriage and violence against women and children. At the same time, she urged to make the operation of mobile courts more effective and regular and to take strong steps against food adulteration.
The Prime Minister also said that public administration officials must prepare themselves to survive in the era of artificial intelligence. The administration must be made more efficient, transparent and timely through the use of automation and digital technology. She also called for emphasis on skill development of the youth, creation of technology-based employment and creation of entrepreneurs.
The Prime Minister concluded her speech by expressing her determination to work for the development of the country and the welfare of the people with this pledge of 'Bangladesh first'.
