Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has announced that if the 11-party alliance comes to power, National Citizens Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam will be included in the cabinet. He made this announcement at an election rally organized in the capital's Badda.
Speaking as the chief guest at a rally in Badda around 11 am on Sunday (February 8), Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that if a government based on justice is formed by the people's verdict, Nahid Islam will be seen as a minister in that government. He said, "InshaAllah, if we can achieve the people's verdict on the path of justice in Bangladesh by the grace of Allah, then you will see Nahid Islam as a minister in that government."
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman also said that Jamaat-e-Islami and the 11-party alliance do not see power as an object of enjoyment, but as a deposit of the people. The main goal of their politics is to ensure the fair rights of every citizen of the country. He commented that it is possible to build a just Bangladesh only through competent, honest and patriotic leadership.
Discussions have started in the political arena around this announcement. The leaders and activists present at the public meeting welcomed the speech of the Jamaat Ameer and expressed their hope for the formation of a just state.
