If Jamaat-e-Islami comes to power, working mothers will work 5 hours a day, and the government will subsidize the remaining 3 hours, said the party's Ameer, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman.
He said this at the Jamaat-e-Islami's manifesto release ceremony on the occasion of the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections at a hotel in the capital on Wednesday (February 4).
At the beginning of the ceremony, he remembered the martyrs killed in the 1971 Liberation War and the recent mass uprising. Then he outlined Jamaat's plans and priorities for running the state.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that 26 issues will be given priority in running the government and 41 visions have been outlined in eight parts in the manifesto. He said, "This manifesto is not a political program of Jamaat, it is a living document for building the country."
He said that the issues related to education, health, employment and fundamental rights have been given special importance in the manifesto. Referring to working mothers, he said that this initiative will be taken to maintain the balance of their family and work life.
Highlighting the role of the youth, the Jamaat Amir said, "Today's youth does not want Bangladesh to lag behind. We have a responsibility to them." Referring to the sacrifice of the martyrs, he said that this responsibility will not be neglected.
Seeking the opinions and suggestions of the countrymen on the manifesto, he said that the manifesto will be further improved if necessary for the welfare of the country and the people. At the same time, he expressed his determination to maintain humane and friendly relations with all civilized countries of the world.
