The physical condition of Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, who was banned from staying in India after the July uprising, is said to be critical. He is currently kept on ventilation in a private hospital in Kolkata. He is undergoing treatment under close observation of doctors.
According to reliable sources, Obaidul Quader had been suffering from multiple physical complications related to old age for a long time. While staying in New Town, Kolkata, he was bedridden for some time and was kept on oxygen support at home. Those concerned said that his physical weakness was increasing day by day.
Last Friday (January 2), his physical condition suddenly deteriorated seriously. He was rushed to Apollo Hospital adjacent to EM Bypass in Kolkata in an almost unconscious state. After reaching there, the emergency department doctors assessed his condition and immediately admitted him to the ICU.
He was taken to ventilation immediately after being admitted to the hospital. Hospital sources said that although he is responding to treatment, his condition is still critical. Doctors are closely monitoring the situation and all necessary medical assistance is being provided.
The news of Obaidul Quader's deteriorating health has sparked fresh discussions in the political arena. Sources have indicated that the hospital authorities will provide the next update on his condition.
