Dhaka: Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) Vice President (VP) Sadiq Kayem has demanded an area-based combing operation against the banned Awami League within the next 48 hours in the wake of the shooting at Inqilab Manch convener Sharif Osman Hadi.
He made this demand while talking to reporters after meeting the Home Affairs Advisor on Monday (December 15).
Sadiq Kayem said that all terrorists from different levels of the banned Awami League should be arrested immediately and illegal weapons should be recovered by conducting a nationwide drive. He alleged that the government's negligence in this regard will not be tolerated any longer.
DUCSU VP also said that everyone involved in the attack on Sharif Osman Hadi, the direct attackers, planners and aides, must be identified and arrested. At the same time, all relevant organs of the state, including the intelligence agencies, should be brought to account quickly. He demanded that legal action be taken against those whose negligence is proven.
He also said that those who supported this attack and presented the July revolutionaries as murderous should be completely boycotted socially. He also demanded that the government take immediate visible steps in these matters.
Regarding India, Sadiq Kayem said that as the first and essential step against Indian hegemony, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina should be brought back to the country and the verdict given for crimes against humanity should be implemented. He also called for a review of diplomatic relations with India in protest against the sheltering of genocidal terrorists.
He warned that diplomatic relations with India cannot be normalized until the accused are returned. If these demands are not implemented within the stipulated time and there is no visible improvement in the law and order situation, the Home Affairs Advisor, Legal Advisor and Foreign Advisor will have to resign.
