Jamaat-e-Islami holds protest march and rally in Sitakunda

A protest march and rally was held in Sitakunda, Chittagong, at the initiative of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami to protest the Paltan massacre of October 28, 2006 and demand justice for the murderers.
The protest march started in front of Hasan Gomosta Mosque in Sitakunda South Bypass area after Asr prayer on Tuesday (October 28). Later, the procession turned into a rally in front of the municipality after visiting Sitakunda North Bazar.
Leaders and activists of various unions and wards of Sitakunda Upazila participated in the protest rally.
Abdul Jabbar, Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Chittagong North District, was present as the chief guest at the rally.
Anwar Siddique Chowdhury, Organizing Secretary of Chittagong North District and nominated candidate for Chittagong-4 constituency, was the special guest.
In his speech, Anwar Siddique Chowdhury said, “Our workers were brutally murdered in Paltan on October 28, 2006. The fact that this incident has not been brought to justice is a disgrace to the nation. We want the murderers punished and the fascist government to fall.”
The rally was presided over by Maulana Mizanur Rahman, Amir of Sitakunda Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami, and moderated by Upazila Secretary Abu Taher.
Also present were Jasim Uddin Azad, Secretary of Chittagong North District Workers Welfare Federation, and local leaders and workers.
