The new German Ambassador to Bangladesh, Rudiger Lotz, met with BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. The courtesy call was held at the BNP Chairperson's office in Gulshan on Thursday morning.

BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Advisor to the Acting Chairman Humayun Kabir and Organizing Secretary Shama Obaid were present at the meeting.

At a press briefing after the meeting, BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said, "The new ambassador has come to call on us. Discussions were held on the future relations, trade, investment and cultural exchange between Bangladesh and Germany."

He said, “There was a special discussion on investment. If BNP comes to power, our main focus will be on skill development to implement the goal of providing employment to one crore people within 18 months. Skilled manpower is essential to get jobs in various sectors. Germany’s technology and experience can be of great help to us here.”

Amir Khasru further said, “German cooperation in the field of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) is very important. We discussed how to increase skill development and technology transfer in Bangladesh.”

He said, “We talked in detail about German investment. German investors have made large investments in China and India. Now they are also considering Bangladesh as a potential destination for investment. They have interest and initiative, and at the same time, positive proposals have been made from Bangladesh.”

The BNP leader further said that BNP has already sent its action plan to every foreign embassy to create an investment-friendly environment. He said, “All countries are interested in investing in Bangladesh, but they are waiting for a fair, free and acceptable election. If an elected and accountable government is formed, foreign investors will be able to make long-term decisions with more confidence.”

BNP leaders presented their views to the German ambassador on Bangladesh’s investment climate, human resource development and technology exchange potential in the meeting.
