Amtali Upazila BNP member secretary Tuhin Mridha and his associates are collecting fees, occupying bus stands, vandalizing and looting, using the party position of BNP. Acting convener of Amtali Upazila BNP Md. Zahirul Islam Mamun (VP) held a press conference to protest against his activities and the implementation of Awami League's agenda. In the press conference, he demanded that those who are involved in such activities including Tuhin Mridha should be expelled from the party. The press conference was held at the party's temporary office on Amtali Upazila Parishad road at 11 am on Friday.
Zahirul Islam Mamun, Acting Convenor of Upazila BNP, said in a written speech at the press conference that on August 5, fascism Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country. On that day, Amtali Upazila BNP member secretary Tuhin Mridha and upazila BNP senior member Samsul Haque Chowkidar along with more than half a hundred leaders and activists carried out massive riots in Amtali Upazila. He was involved in various activities including vandalizing houses, occupying land, occupying Awami League office, setting fire.
Last Wednesday Amtali Upazila BNP member secretary Tuhin Mridha and senior member Samsul Haque Chowkidar along with 20-25 motorcycles attacked and vandalized the grocery store of Humayun Kabir Milton, the labor supplier of the under-construction power grid sub-centre in Chalabhanga village with indigenous weapons. Upazila BNP member secretary Tuhin Mridha and his associates demanded two lakh rupees from that shop. He was beaten for not paying that money. Later, two lakh rupees were looted from the shop. Also, member secretary of Upazila BNP, Tuhin Mridha, has been encroaching on rural haat bazaars and collecting subscriptions. Due to the activities of Tuhin Mridha and his followers, the freedom of expression of Amtali Upazila BNP has come down to zero. VP Mamun demanded that Tumin Mridha and those involved in such activities be expelled from BNP to save the image of the party.
Municipal BNP convener Kabir Uddin Fakir said in the press conference that upazila BNP member secretary Tuhin Mridha's father late Abdus Chhattar Mridha was the vice president of Amtali Upazila Awami League. His cousin Amtali Sadar Union Parishad former chairman Motahar Uddin Mridha Upazila Vice President of Awami League. Upazila BNP member secretary Tuhin Mridha is doing such activities to implement his agenda. He immediately demanded his dismissal from the party post.
Upazila BNP joint convener Maqbool Ahmed Khan, Upazila Jubodal joint convener Mainuddin Mamun, Abu Syed Zuberi, Abdur Razzak Chowkidar, BNP leader Rustum Ali Akon, Jalal Ahmed Khan, Mahharul Islam Milon, Matiur Rahman Manik, Md Setu Mallik and were also present in the press conference. Member Secretary of Amtali Upazila BNP Tuhin Mridha denied all allegations and said that I and my followers are not involved in all the incidents that happened in Amtali Upazila after Hasina left the country. False accusations have been brought against me.
