1000 people have been killed in violence during the quota reform movement in Bangladesh. This was stated by the newly former Home Affairs Advisor of the Interim Government (currently Jute and Textile Advisor) M Sakhawat Hossain. He said this in an interview given to the Indian media Northeast News.
M Sakhawat Hossain said in a 45-minute interview on the phone, "Most of those who were killed by the police force with lethal weapons on the orders of Sheikh Hasina government are young people and students.
These students were killed in Dhaka and districts outside Dhaka. '
He also said, "Sheikh Hasina did not care about people's lives for power." Apart from senior police officers, many members of Sheikh Hasina's cabinet including former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former Law Minister Anisul Haque and former Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader were involved in the killing. '
M Sakhawat Hossain, who spoke to numerous police officers after assuming the duties of the Home Affairs Advisor of the interim government, said, "We had to talk to the policemen for five hours to calm them down.
They are asked about various things. At one point they burst into tears. '
He said to India, "My message to the Indian government is, do you want to see a friendly or hostile government in Dhaka?"
