In July, 372 people were killed in 336 road accidents in the country. Bangladesh Passenger Welfare Association said that 543 people were injured in these accidents.

This information was informed in a circular signed by Mozammel Haque Chowdhury, Secretary General of the organization on Thursday (August 15).
According to the notification, 416 people were killed and 561 people were injured in a total of 374 accidents on road, rail and sea in July.

Among them, 24 people were killed and 4 injured in railway accidents in 22 accidents, 20 people were killed in 16 accidents in sea, 14 people were injured and 17 people were missing. At the same time, 121 people were killed and 81 people were injured in 109 motorcycle accidents. Which is 32.44 percent of the total accidents, 32.52 percent of the dead and 14.91 percent of the injured.
Dhaka Division recorded the highest number of road accidents in July, 92 people were killed and 133 injured in 87 road accidents. Mymensingh Division recorded the least number of road accidents, with 16 killed and 13 injured in 14 road accidents.

The circular also informed that among the people affected by the road accident are 2 members of law and order forces, 57 drivers, 54 pedestrians, 9 transport workers, 22 students, 4 teachers, 53 women, 37 children, 3 journalists. , 2 doctors, and 4 leaders and activists of different political parties have been identified. Among them, 2 policemen, 53 different transport drivers, 50 pedestrians, 47 women, 33 children, 20 students, 2 transport workers, 4 teachers, 3 journalists, 2 doctors, 4 different people were killed. This time, 504 vehicles involved in road accidents have been identified. It shows that 23.21 percent motorcycles, 25.39 percent trucks-pickup-covered vans and lorries, 12.89 percent buses, 16.46 percent battery-powered rickshaws and easy bikes, 7.14 percent CNG-powered auto-rickshaws, 8.13 percent nachiman- Karimon-Mahindra-Tractor and Laguna, 6.74 percent Car-Jeep-Microbus road accidents.

Of the total accidents organized, 44.94 per cent were vehicle rollovers, 34.52 per cent head-on collisions, 16.96 per cent loss of control into ditches, 3.27 per cent miscellaneous causes and 29.29 per cent wheel spinnerets.
An analysis of the types of accidents showed that 36.60 percent of the total accidents organized in July occurred on national highways, 26.48 percent on regional highways, 30.95 percent on feeder roads. Also, 5.5 percent of the total accidents occurred in Dhaka city and 89 percent in Chittagong city.
