Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that the budget for the current fiscal year will be realistic, balanced and people-friendly. According to him, this budget will bring some relief to people of all classes and professions of the country and will help in making the economy more dynamic.
While speaking at the budget session of the National Parliament on Monday, the Prime Minister said that the prices of daily necessities in the market have remained stable due to the withdrawal of customs duties on 61 products. She claimed that this is the first time since the budget was announced that the price of any daily necessities has not increased and that is why she referred to the proposed budget as a 'life-friendly budget'.
Regarding the economic situation, the Prime Minister said that in the past, the country's foreign exchange reserves were under pressure due to money laundering. However, currently, a democratic environment and economic stability are returning to the country. She also said that the government is focusing on future development and progress rather than dealing with the past crisis.
The Prime Minister also said that the burden of the huge foreign debt taken by the previous government is still on the country. The government's goal is to build a production and investment-based economy in the future, rather than a debt-based one. In addition, an environment will be created in which the country's youth can create jobs themselves and play an active role in economic development.
