Tarique Rahman's Doctorate Degree from DU - Claim 'Fake', Says FactWatch

The claim that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is being awarded a doctorate degree from Dhaka University, which has been circulating on social media, is baseless and a rumor, FactWatch has said.
According to the organization's investigation, misleading information was spread on social media recently, centered on Tarique Rahman's presence at a program at Dhaka University. It was claimed that the university authorities had awarded him a doctorate degree. However, verification did not find the truth of any such information.
FactWatch said that Rafiqul Islam, the director of the university's public relations department, clarified the matter. According to him, to award someone a doctorate degree, a specific process has to be followed, including a special convocation, approval from the academic council and syndicate. In this case, no such process took place.
During the verification of the information, information about the award of a doctorate degree was not found anywhere after searching various media outlets and related sources. It is learned that Tarique Rahman participated as the chief guest in an education-related workshop at the university.
