Fascist Sheikh Hasina and her government are responsible for the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, said Dr. Asif Nazrul, Advisor to the Interim Government on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. He said that Begum Khaleda Zia has been slowly pushed towards death through a farce of false verdicts.
Dr. Asif Nazrul said these things in response to questions from journalists at a press conference held outside the State Guest House Jamuna after a special meeting of the Advisory Council on Tuesday (December 30). He said that the sentence and trial process against Khaleda Zia were politically motivated and against justice. Due to these decisions, she has been deprived of timely and necessary medical treatment.
The Legal Advisor also said that the Interim Government has made every effort to give Begum Khaleda Zia due dignity and respect since assuming office. He also mentioned that the Chief Advisor has always kept track of her. Dr. Asif Nazrul said, “If we had found her two years ago, we could have ensured better medical facilities.”
He said that a meeting regarding law and order will be held with the Ministry of Home Affairs today to ensure that Khaleda Zia’s funeral and burial are conducted in an orderly manner. He said that the government will provide all-out cooperation in the security and overall management of the funeral.
Dr. Asif Nazrul said that Begum Khaleda Zia will be buried next to former President Shaheed Ziaur Rahman. The Chief Advisor said in the cabinet meeting that the interim government will provide all kinds of assistance in the funeral and burial activities. In the meeting, the advisors recalled Begum Khaleda Zia’s political life and contribution.
He also said that Begum Khaleda Zia had a long talk with the Chief Advisor on the last Armed Forces Day. At that time too, she expressed deep concern about the future of the country and democracy.
The legal advisor said, "The nation needed Khaleda Zia very much in this critical time. Her place in the heart of every person in Bangladesh will remain indestructible and indestructible." He called on the countrymen to offer her funeral prayers in a disciplined and solemn atmosphere.
He said that the Advisory Council meeting decided to observe three days of state mourning from tomorrow on the death of Begum Khaleda Zia. A general holiday has also been declared during this time. In addition, it has been decided to open condolence books in Bangladesh embassies in different countries of the world.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir participated in the meeting. The legal advisor said that he expressed gratitude for the government's cooperation with Zia's family and party. Tomorrow after Zohar, Begum Khaleda Zia's funeral will be held at Manik Mia Avenue adjacent to the South Plaza of the National Parliament and then she will be buried next to martyred President and freedom fighter Ziaur Rahman. He also said that the government will ensure all-out support in this regard.
