Dhaka University student involved in quota reform movement attacked in Mymensingh

A Dhaka University student active in the quota reform movement was attacked in Gouripur, Mymensingh. The incident took place in Nimatoli area of Gouripur municipality at around 9 pm on Thursday night. A general diary (GD) was made in the police station last night in this incident.
The name of the injured student is Enamul Hasan (Anay). He is a resident of Kalipur Madhyataraf (Kala Bagan) Mohalla of Gouripur Municipal Town. This student studying in the third year of Political Science Department of Dhaka University (DU) is in charge of Education and Research Secretary of Bangladesh Students Union Central Committee. Along with that, he is the joint convener of the DU branch of the organization. Before this, he was the president of Gouripur Upazila Students Union.
Enamul took first aid at Gouripur Upazila Health Complex after the attack. Shamim Akhter, the doctor on duty at the hospital's emergency department, said that the student had one injury mark on his right arm and two injuries on his back. But no stitches were needed. After first treatment he was sent home.
Enamul's mother made a general diary at Gouripur police station yesterday at around 11 pm regarding this attack. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the police station Hasan Al Mamun said, "They did not want to file a case." They did not know who attacked them. We have taken GD. We are investigating the matter and see who killed him.
On the way home, a man called from behind. Sharif bhai says he will talk and asks to go to a dark place. But I didn't want to go. Some people beat me up alleging that I gave anti-national speeches and slogans during the quota reform movement.

About the attack, Enamul said, 'I came from Dhaka to my area on the day curfew started. On Thursday (yesterday) evening, a man called from behind while returning home from Bangabandhu Chattar area of Gouripur. Sharif bhai says he will talk and asks to go to a dark place. But I didn't want to go. Some people beat me up alleging that I gave anti-national speeches and slogans during the quota reform movement.
Enamul also said, "I think that those who attacked are involved in Chhatra League and Awami Gharana politics. But I didn't recognize anyone. I was active in the movement in Dhaka because of their anger.
There is no committee of Chhatra League in the upazila for a long time. We do not know that there is any Chhatra League worker named Sharif. Jamaat-BNP people may have used the name of Chhatra League to commit the incident.
Gouripur Upazila Awami League General Secretary Somnath Saha
General Secretary of Gouripur Upazila Awami League and Chairman of Upazila Parishad Somnath Saha claimed that neither Chhatra League nor Awami League was involved in this attack. He said, 'There is no committee of Chhatra League in the district for a long time. We do not know that there is any Chhatra League worker named Sharif. People of Jamaat-BNP may have used the name of Chhatra League to commit the incident.
