Zelenskyy Says Ukraine to Receive License to Produce Patriot Missiles

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that US President Donald Trump has decided to grant Ukraine a license to manufacture Patriot defense missiles. Increasing the supply of Patriot systems to counter Russian missile attacks has been a long-standing demand of Kyiv. However, there has been no official announcement yet regarding the transfer of the license or the commencement of production.

Speaking to reporters on Friday (September 25), Zelenskyy stated that Trump conveyed this final decision during a meeting held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York. According to him, Ukraine will receive the license to produce Patriot missiles. CNN has sought a comment from the White House regarding this matter.

Patriot interceptors are crucial for Ukraine to counter Russian ballistic missiles. Zelenskyy had previously told CNN that Ukraine possesses only one-tenth of the interceptors needed to counter ongoing attacks.

Meanwhile, the city's mayor reported that a drone attack in Kyiv on Friday killed seven people—including a teenager—and injured 59 others. According to Ukrainian officials, attacks took place across eight regions of the country that day.
Separately, Zelenskyy revealed that the US has proposed a trilateral meeting involving Ukraine and Russia. While the United Arab Emirates has been suggested as the venue for the talks, no date has been finalized. He hopes to gain a clearer understanding of the initiative's progress within the next ten days.
Russia has not yet committed to participating in the meeting. President Vladimir Putin has stated that proposals to initiate talks are under consideration, noting that Russia will prioritize its national interests when making a decision.
