Tulip Siddique has resigned from her position as UK City Minister. Tulip Siddique, the niece of ousted Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has been in the news in the British media for some time. On Tuesday, she sent her resignation letter to UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, which is fully outlined:
In her resignation letter, Tulip Siddique wrote,
"Dear Prime Minister, I would like to thank you for the confidence you have shown in me in recent weeks. I am grateful for the way the independent advisor on ministerial standards, at my request, has worked and conducted a detailed review of my financial activities and lifestyle."
She also wrote, "Sir Lowry has confirmed that I have not breached ministerial rules and that my wealth has come from lawful means. I have been and continue to be fully transparent with the government about my family relationships."
Tulip Siddique said, "Even my duties as Economic Secretary in the Ministry of Finance could attract the attention of the government, which could divert attention from the activities of the government." As a result, she decided to resign.
She also said in her resignation letter, "I thank you for the opportunity to serve in your government and I will continue to support the government from the back row."
Thus, she expressed her loyalty to the UK government and announced her resignation.
