Technology enthusiasts always get excited when a new smartphone model comes to the market. Recently, the brand that is being discussed a lot among the youth in Bangladesh is the ‘Nothing’ phone. Although the name sounds like ‘nothing’, in reality, there has been a lot of interest in the design and technology of this phone.
Exceptional design is the main attraction
OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei launched the Nothing Phone 1 in the market from a London-based company in 2022. The biggest feature of the phone is its transparent back panel, where the internal components are visible. It is accompanied by a special Glyph Interface—an LED lighting system on the back cover, which creates different visual effects during notifications, charging, or call alerts.
According to technology experts, the ‘Nothing’ phone is becoming popular among the youth because of its design and unique software experience.
Price and availability in Bangladesh
There is no official distributor of this phone in Bangladesh. As a result, it comes to the market through ‘baggage rules’ or various unofficial means. Due to this, the price varies from store to store.
Currently, the following models are available in various shopping malls and online platforms in the capital—
Nothing Phone 3A – around 33,500 taka
Nothing Phone 3A Pro (5G) – around 38,900 taka
Nothing Phone 3 (5G) – around 72,000 taka
CMF by Nothing Phone 1 – around 24,500 taka
CMF by Nothing Phone 2 Pro – around 26,200 taka
Nothing Phone 3 (Flagship Model) – prices up to 1 lakh 10 thousand taka in some stores
Sellers claim that the demand for this brand has increased a lot now that the price has come down compared to a few months ago.
What's in the new models
CMF Phone 1 has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display, 120 Hz refresh rate, MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, 50 megapixel camera and 5000 mAh battery.
The Nothing Phone 3A Pro 5G features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, 50-megapixel triple camera setup, and 50-watt fast charging.
According to technology analysts, the Nothing CMF series and 3A Pro are now gaining more interest from buyers as feature-rich phones within the budget.
Buyers' reactions
Rakibul Islam, a student from Uttara in the capital, bought the CMF Phone 2 Pro for Tk 28,600. He said, "No other brand offers such a good display and performance in this budget. However, if the charging was 45 watts instead of 33 watts, it would have been even better."
On the other hand, a salesperson at a shop in Bashundhara said that an average of 5 to 10 'Nothing' phones are sold every day. "The youth are the most interested. Many come to buy just by looking at the design."
Limitations
However, there are some challenges.
There is a warranty risk as there is no official distributor.
Buyers are confused as prices vary from store to store.
Some models have lower charging capacity than competing brands.
