Another shipment of 5 percent duty has arrived at Benapole port

Imported eggs from India at Benapole land port at 5 percent duty at Benapole port. Egg imports are now being taxed at 5 percent instead of 25 percent. The importers said that the price of eggs will decrease. They will get this tariff benefit till December 15.
It has been reported that the importing company Hydroland Solutions will clear the consignment of 231 thousand 840 eggs that arrived on Tuesday (October 29) at around 6 pm from customs.
According to Customs House sources, 11 lakh 59 thousand 200 eggs were imported through Benapole port in five shipments from September 8 to October 29. Earlier, on November 5 last year, the importer BDS Corporation of Rampura, Dhaka, imported 61 thousand 950 eggs. Apart from this, some other establishments have been given permission to import by the government, but those establishments have not yet imported eggs.
Earlier each egg was taxed at 1 taka 96 paise. Due to the reduction in duty, from now on each egg will have to pay only 76 paise of customs duty. New shipment of eggs imported at this tariff should be sold in the market for Rs.9.
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) had issued an order on October 17 regarding the reduction of duty to increase the supply of eggs and reduce the market price. The order arrived at Benapole Customs on October 20. After receiving the order on October 21, a consignment of 2 lakh 31 thousand 840 eggs was subjected to low duty at only 76 paise. From September 9 to October 29, five consignments of eggs arrived at Benapole port. And C&F agent M/s Ratul International is working to exempt these shipments from customs.
Ikramul Hasan Sajib, the representative of the owner of the importing company Hydroland Solutions, said, "We are accepting the eggs in the newly determined duty. On October 21, 5 percent duty egg redemption started. Now the price will be lower than before.
Benapole Customs House Deputy Commissioner Othello Chowdhury said that 2 lakh 31 thousand 840 eggs were released on October 21 at low duty and 2 lakh 31 thousand 840 are being released today. All kinds of cooperation are being given to the importer to clear the consignment of eggs.
