Popular Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam has been praised for his humane and respectful behavior at a concert held in Srinagar, Kashmir. He voluntarily stopped singing after hearing the call to prayer during the event and asked the audience for some time.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, Sonu Nigam was singing at a concert at the SK International Conference Center next to Dal Lake in Srinagar. When the call to prayer suddenly sounded, he said into the microphone, “Give me two minutes, the call to prayer is about to start here now.” The audience responded to his statement with applause and cheers. After the call to prayer ended, Sonu returned to the stage and continued the event.
The audience praised his move as “very respectful and sensitive”. It is worth noting that in 2017, Sonu Nigam was embroiled in a controversy over the broadcast of the call to prayer. At that time, he criticized the broadcast of Azaan on loudspeakers. But this time, he has presented himself in a new way by showing respect for Azaan in a completely different attitude.
This behavior of Sonu Nigam has received widespread praise on social media. Many say that he has set a new example of mutual respect and tolerance, overcoming past controversies.
