The court has ordered the conversion of the accidental death case filed in the death of film actor Salman Shah into a murder case. Dhaka's Sixth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md. Jannatul Ferdous Ibne Haque granted the revision petition on Monday and issued the order.

The court has ordered the filing of a murder case, attaching the complaint of Salman Shah's father Qamar Uddin and the confessional statement of Rizvi Ahmed alias Farhad, who is involved in the incident. Plaintiff's lawyer Abid Hasan said that after Salman Shah's death, an accidental death case was first filed at Ramna Model Police Station. Later, despite the father's request, the case was not converted into a murder case.

During the investigation of the case, an accused named Rizvi Ahmed or Farhad gave a confessional statement, which mentioned in detail how Salman was killed. Even after that, the case was under the observation of the court for a long time, but it was not implemented. Later, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) filed a final report on the case, but the court took it into consideration and dismissed it.

Today, the court overturned that dismissal order and ordered the filing of a murder case by attaching the complaint and statement of Salman Shah's father. Ramna Model Police Station has also been ordered to submit an investigation report.

It is worth noting that film actor Salman Shah died on September 6, 1996. Although a case of accidental death was initially filed after his death, his father later filed a murder complaint against Qamar Uddin. The case has been investigated many times - including by the CID, RAB and PBI. After a long year of investigation, the final report has been received as suicide or accidental death. This time, it has been re-accepted as a murder case on the court's orders, which may bring a new twist to the investigation.
