National Film Award-winning actress Runa Khan is in the news for many reasons besides acting. In her two-decade career, she has firmly established herself in TV, cinema, and OTT. She has gained wide audience popularity through films like 'Chitkini', 'Halda', 'Gohin Baluchar' and OTT works like 'Kashtani', 'Asmoya'.
This time, she has appeared at the 23rd edition of the country's biggest film festival with a new film. The film 'Neelpadma', directed by Toufiq Elahi, has been selected in the 'Bangladesh Panorama' section of the festival. In it, she plays the role of a sex worker.
In this regard, Runa Khan said, "The audience will see this work of mine at the beginning of the year, so the new year is a special joy for me. This work, which I have acted in along with films from many countries around the world, will also be screened at the National Museum on the evening of January 15. I think there can be nothing better than this to start the year as an actress."
Regarding playing the role of a sex worker, Runa said, "My film's director Toufiq Elahi's first film is 'Neelpadma'. He has researched the lives and social status of sex workers for a long time for this work. I went to Daulatdia and did my first shooting. Help was taken with their clothing, because I had taken simple clothes, but their clothes were very colorful."
Runa also said, "We talked to them a lot during the shooting. They live a very simple life."
