The Bollywood film 'Lapata Ladies', a story about rural housewives in India, was made. That story never reached the world stage. This film by Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao could not survive the Oscar race.
Indian media reported that a total of 15 films were selected for voting in the list of best international films. The film 'Lapata Ladies' was sent from India. But the film was eliminated from the Oscar selection phase.
'Lapata Ladies' was released in theaters last year. Aamir Khan is one of the producers of this film starring Parsh Srivastava, Nitangshi Goyal and Pratibha Ranta. Made on a budget of about five crore rupees, the film earned a little more than 25 crores. However, although it was appreciated by critics, many viewers later watched the film on OTT and praised it.
Incidentally, Aamir Khan had earlier got the opportunity to attend the Oscar ceremony thanks to the movie ‘Lagaan’. The movie directed by Ashutosh Gowariker received the final nomination in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
But that year, ‘No Man’s Land’ won the Oscar. Kiran was the assistant director of the movie ‘Lagaan’. And ‘Lapata Ladies’ was directed by him and he is also a partner in the production of the movie. Kiran-Aamir also promoted the movie while visiting the United States.
