The Ministry of Education has ordered to settle the departmental proceedings initiated by temporarily suspending the teachers and employees of recognized private schools within 180 working days. Otherwise, after 180 working days, the teachers and employees will be reinstated in their positions and will get full salary and other benefits, said the Ministry.

The secondary and higher education department of the Ministry of Education has already issued a circular informing about the matter. The circular has been sent to the Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education and the Chairman of all Education Boards.
It is believed that this opportunity has been given to those who have faced harassment or punishment on political grounds.

The circular was issued on August 8, but recently it was published by the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry. In the circular signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Mohammad Tauhidul Islam, it is said that departmental proceedings against teachers and employees of recognized private secondary schools should be settled within 180 working days. Otherwise, at the end of 180 working days, the teacher-employee will automatically be reinstated to his position and will get full salary and other benefits as per the rules.
The ministry also said that this time should be calculated from the date of suspension and the date of commencement of departmental proceedings. The Secondary and Higher Education Department also said that this order has been issued with the approval of the appropriate authorities.
Earlier, in a judgment published in January 2022, the High Court had urged the Ministry of Education to make regulations for determining the period of temporary suspension of teachers and to determine the period within which a complaint against a teacher would be settled.
