A two-hour symbolic shutdown was observed by nurses and midwives in Panchagarh demanding the formation of a National Nursing Commission, stopping the attempt to merge the independent Nursing and Midwifery Department into a different department, and implementing the 8-point demands.
The program was organized by the Panchagarh Nurses Association on Sunday (November 30) from 10 am to 12 noon on the premises of Panchagarh Adhunik Sadar Hospital.
Members of the Panchagarh Nurses Association and Panchagarh Midwifery Society, nurses working at Panchagarh Adhunik Sadar Hospital, and students of the Panchagarh Nursing Institute participated in the symbolic shutdown.

At this time, Panchagarh Modern Sadar Hospital Nursing Superintendent Amena Khatun, Senior Staff Nurse Umme Kulsum, General Secretary of Bangladesh Nurses Association Panchagarh branch Arif Hossain, Nursing Instructor of Panchagarh Nursing Institute Pilot Hossain, Midwifery student Ananya and others spoke.

The speakers said, nurses are engaged in the service of the common people. At this time, we are supposed to be in the hospital, but we have come to the movement for the only reason that for 48 years, the independent nursing administration with history and tradition has been under the Midwifery Department. Now, there is an attempt to change it and bring it under a different department. Which will never be accepted. If our reasonable demands are not accepted, we will be forced to go on a strict program in the future.
