NCP leader shot in Khulna, hospitalised in critical condition

A top leader of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) was shot in Khulna. The attack took place in the city's Sonadanga area around 12:15 pm on Monday (December 22). NCP's Khulna divisional chief and central organizer of the workers' force, Motaleb Sikder, was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital with serious injuries after being shot. Doctors have described his condition as 'critical'.
According to eyewitnesses, Motaleb Sikder was standing on a busy road in Sonadanga area. At that time, miscreants suddenly opened fire on him. He fell down on the spot after being shot in the head. People nearby quickly rescued him and took him to the hospital.
NCP joint chief organizer Dr. Mahmuda Mitu confirmed the information about the incident through a post on social media Facebook. In the post, he wrote that Motaleb Sikder, the Khulna division chief of NCP and the central organizer of NCP workers' power, was shot a while ago and was taken to Khulna Medical College in a critical condition.
The attack has created intense concern and tension in the political arena. No definite information has been received yet about who is behind the attack and what caused the incident. It is learnt that the police have reached the spot and started an investigation. Law enforcement agencies are taking action to identify and arrest the attackers.
