The students have forced Dilip Kumar Mukhopadhyay, the vice chairman of Domar upazila parishad of Nilphamari and acting president of Harinchara Union Awami League of the upazila, to resign.
They forced the vice chairman to resign in the office of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) on Sunday (August 18) afternoon.
It is known that Vice Chairman Dilip Kumar went to UNO room of Doma to talk about official work. At that time, some students of the anti-discrimination movement of the upazila entered there. Later they asked Dilip Kumar Mukherjee to resign. He tried to convince the students by talking to them. While speaking some other students entered there and all demanded his resignation. The Vice Chairman of the Upazila Parishad was forced to sign the resignation letter after failing to convince the students. Then the students submitted the resignation letter to the upazila executive officer.
Dilip Kumar told Dhaka Post, I was sitting in the Upazila Nirbahi officer's room. At this time, some students suddenly entered there. They chatted with me as soon as they entered the room. They demanded that I resign. Some more students entered there. I try to convince them. After failing that, I signed the resignation letter written by them. They then submitted it to UNO.
In this regard, Doma Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Nazmul Alam told Dhaka Post that the students have submitted a resignation letter of the vice chairman of the upazila parishad to me. I will forward it to higher authorities.
