Miscreants killed an expatriate named Meher Ali (45) by shooting him in the head in Jessore. The incident took place at Badiatola Paschim Para village of Churamankati Union of Sadar Upazila around 11 pm on Friday (August 9).

The deceased Meher Ali is the son of Abdul Malek Mandal of that area. He returned from Kuwait on July 26. There was an organization working in a place called Hadiya in the country.
It is known that he was an active worker of BNP before going abroad.
Relatives of the deceased Meher Ali said that for the last two days, Meher Ali was staying at his uncle's father-in-law's house named Anwar Hossain of Jessore Bahadurpur area. On the day of the incident, Meher returned to his home around Friday evening. On this day, after eating and drinking at home at night, he came to lock the collapsible gate of the house. After that, the miscreants who were waiting from the east came in front of the gate and shot him in the head and fled. Hearing the sound of gunshots, the relatives quickly rescued Meher Ali in a bloody state and brought him to the Jessore 250-bed General Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.
Relatives of the deceased said that when Sheikh Hasina resigned on Monday, Meher Ali went out in a victory procession with BNP leaders and activists. Then he returned to the area and distributed khichuri. Because of this, his relatives think that he was killed.
Abu Abdullah of the victim said, my brother Meher Ali and three brothers have been living abroad for a long time. Before going abroad, my brother used to do BNP politics. Local Awami League leaders have been jailed several times with false cases. After a long time, my brother returned to the country on July 26. I returned a month ago.
He also said that my brother has two children aged five years and one and a half years. What will happen to them, they lost their father. Who will they call father? Want justice for the murder of my brother? Why did you kill my brother? My brother has no quarrel with anyone. He used to get along with everyone, he used to get along with the locals.
Jessore 250 bed general hospital emergency department doctor Dr. Khandkar Rezyan Ud Daraim said that Meher Ali, who was shot dead, was brought to the hospital by his relatives. He died of excessive bleeding from a gunshot wound to the back of his head. The body is in the hospital morgue.
