The artists have stood by the students in the situation arising from the quota reform movement. Popular actor Musharraf Karim expressed solidarity with the demands of the protesting students like others.
On Thursday (August 1) morning, Shilip Samaj gathered in front of Anand Cinema Hall in the capital's Farmgate.
At that time, Musharraf Karim said that the current situation in our country does not allow us to sit at home anymore.
The popular actor also said, we want peace, we don't want to see blood. We want all torture, shooting, killing, blood to stop. We want to stay out of them.
Incidentally, in 2018, the students called for agitation after the High Court declared the circular issued by canceling the quota in the first and second class of government jobs illegal. At one point, the students of the public universities of the country and the private universities also joined the movement. School and college students are also seen with them. As part of the programme, the students also staged a blockade named 'Bangla Blockade'. At one point, the anti-discrimination student movement announced a 'complete shutdown'.
During the program, police and government supporters clashed with protesters across the country including the capital. The authorities ordered to vacate the halls by suspending the class examinations of the universities. Other educational institutions were also closed. On July 18, the agitators set fire to various government buildings. Widespread vandalism took place in various parts of the country including the capital.
When the violence and conflict spread, the government decided to deploy the army by issuing a curfew on the night of July 19. Later a general holiday was declared from 21st to 23rd July. There is conflict and violence across the country. 150 people including police officers have been killed in this. When the government launched an operation to suppress the violence, the situation became normal from last July 22. Curfew relaxation time gradually increases. The office was gradually opened.
